Thank God for a busy, fun-filled weekend. I didn’t have time or energy to carry last week’s stress with me. We spent a fun, frigid, tough-on-my-wallet time in Manhattan/Soho/Upper West Side on Saturday, caught the stepson’s performance in a fantastic Columbia-produced rendition of Canterbury Tales (you’ve never seen it like this, believe me!), and spent yesterday at the mall with daughter on five hours of sleep. Stress was reduced to the basics – “Stop buying! I’m running out of cash!”
Today I face a bit of stress – short week, ticking clock on a large project that is becoming my albatross, and two articles that must be done NOW, not later. Thank God she can drive, for daughter is on her own until Thanksgiving.
I’ve got reinforcement help on the large project, but the client just has to be patient. It’s a massive document and there’s no way any one (or two) writer(s) can get through this quickly. Per usual, heading into a holiday, I’ve inhaled and can’t exhale lest I miss something. And once again, I’m trying to be Super Writer (though I like to think of myself as Captain Comma, thank you).
Not much to report other than being tired still and wanting to get through this pile of work by Wednesday. How about you? What’s on your desk? How’s your holiday shaping up? Any big plans?
Hope you at least get a nap, C.C. Not too much planned over here because the three kids are “home” (meaning they stop by more frequently to eat and change clothes). We’ll have our traditional Turkey Day doings…and just maybe, a little more rest than normal.
Nap? Ha! That’s for wimps, Angie. No, I have many things to accomplish. Oddly, I had the old “pre-migraine” symptoms today and I actually hesitated taking Advil. It does force me to slow down, but oh, the nausea!
I’m taking Turkey Day off, but I’m planning to work Friday. I know it will be quiet then and (hopefully) I’ll get a lot accomplished. I figure it’s a good way to make up for some of the other unplanned time I’ve had to take off of late. Hope that large project doesn’t interfere with your holiday. I’d offered to help out, but I’m having trouble keeping up with my own demands these days. Maybe next time.
No worries, Kathy. I’m taking time off this week to visit family. The work can wait. 🙂
We’re dealing with the death and its aftermath, and how we’re going to pay tribute to my grandmother at the big dinner and at a breakfast the following morning, where I’ve been asked to speak.
Still missing some major payments, which means my bills are late, and it’s pissing me off.
Got a large stack of correspondence to get through today and a bunch of interview questions to send out to people, because we leave tomorrow before 6 AM.
Exhausted and tired of coping.
Hang in there, Devon. You’ll be surrounded by loved ones soon, and it’ll be a nice time to reminisce and share your feelings.
Hugs, sweetie.
