The Staple Work

Posted on March 9, 2012 by lwidmer

What a difference a day makes. We live in a world where medicines made to cure us make us feel worse. Once one of the antibiotics I’d been taking wore off, I felt infinitely better. Not 100 percent because now I have to wait out the medicine’s effects on the body, but better. If the…

Rest for the Weary

Please head over to Michelle Rafter’s blog, WordCount, to see my guest post. Thank you, Michelle! Sometimes the universe provides what you need when you need it. I’ve felt awful for the last few weeks. This has coincided with a time in my workload where the deadlines were longer and the projects had all been…

Quick-start Guide to Finding Clients

Posted on March 7, 2012 by lwidmer

It’s now three days since I first called the doctor. No return call Monday, and the second I went off to the pharmacy (ironically) yesterday she called. I’m taking meds I know will make me feel deathly sick again, but until she changes things up, I’ve no choice. I’m taking anti-nausea meds, but who knows…

Rule of Absolutes

Posted on March 6, 2012 by lwidmer

Yesterday was somewhat fruitful. I got the bones of the article set up and I worked through the intro and the “supporting” evidence for that intro. About then I had to stop for a client call. After that, I had to stop because my body said so. Anyone who knows me knows I follow one…

Marginal Monday

It’s funny how the cure can sometimes be as bad as the ailment. I started taking the second antibiotic on Thursday and felt somewhat better on Friday – enough to accompany the husband to Pittsburgh. By Saturday morning it was clear something wasn’t working. My head was throbbing (sinus infection), my face was hot, the…

Fried Fridays

Posted on March 2, 2012 by lwidmer

Yesterday was a complete wash. I was feverish, achy, and I couldn’t sit upright for any length of time. When that happens, I put up the “away” message and listen to the body. The doctor tossed one more antibiotic into the mix, and within two doses things were beginning to clear up. Today, mostly rest….

Five Risks Writers Should Take

Posted on March 1, 2012 by lwidmer

I wish these antibiotics would take hold – I’m still feeling achy and weak, though my headaches have cleared up and I don’t feel as feverish. I have one more article to finish, then I can relax a little until the next surge comes. I was thinking about risk management this week – of course,…

Monthly Assessment: February 2012

Happy Leap Day! It feels good to have one extra day in the year, especially with a full workload. What are you doing for Leap Day? I’m currently pumped up with antibiotics and eager to get back to feeling 100 percent. Lingering infections are just a pain in the neck (and back and arms and…

The Very Limited Offer

Posted on February 28, 2012 by lwidmer

Even feeling like I’d been pushed through a sieve, I managed to get a good deal finished yesterday. I drafted a client newsletter, got an article to a point where I need only drop in one more quote, and wrote the first draft of the 31 Days to Trade Magazine Profits webinar. I still feel…

Monday, Monday….

Head on over to John Soare’s Productive Writers blog for his interview with me and a review of my e-book, Marketing 365. Thanks, John! You’re one of my absolute favorites, too. 🙂 For once, I’m rather glad the weekend is over. I spent much of yesterday fighting off an excruciating headache. It’s amazing how closely…

The weekend was challenging, but ultimately good. My HEX BREAKER first round edits are done and to the editor. I'm caught up with classes, in spite of some glitches there. I've got other manuscripts and some freelance work to whip into shape. A colleague is opening a door to a great new opportunity for me, and now I have to be at my best — landing it will make my life much easier moving forward.

Busy week with client meetings and classes, and starting to implement the new business plan. Will have some questions for the 365 interview to you in a couple of days.

That was some weekend Lori. We have different reactions to Home Depot. I always want to get the hell out of there before I get saddled with more "honey do" projects.

And I'm very happy to feature you and your excellent marketing tips this week at Productive Writers. There are already several good comments.

Devon, fingers crossed for you! No rush on the questions. I'll be here. 🙂

John, normally I hate that place for what it stands for, but my eyes glaze over the minute I get in there and catch my first whiff of lumber….

My weekend was odd. Saturday I didn't clean or play catch-up on chores (unless you count one load of laundry).

Sunday I surprised myself by watching the Academy Awards – minus the hour I switched over to The Walking Dead.

I couldn't, Paula. I'm so tired of the hype and the obvious political nature of the show. I used to love it, but they lost me the year Johnny Depp was snubbed for Best Actor for one of the Pirates incarnations. If that didn't deserve an award based on actual creativity and presentation, then I clearly don't understand how these people vote.

I will say my favorite movie did win Best Actor, Best Picture, etc.

Geeze… me too with the allergy headache… for three days now. Thought we'd have rain today, and still might… which would help.

updating one of my websites, but a nap is called for. With meds… that's ibuprofen, not Zen 😉

    Anne, you'll love this:

The local whole foods market lets customers make requests on the bulletin board. One of them read "Is it completely against your sensibilities to stock Advil? Sometimes the stuff just works better."

They did respond that they focus mainly on holistic stuff, but it was a great question! LOL

It was unusual for me because I can't remember the last time I'd watched the Oscars. I seldom see first run movies, so it really doesn't interest me.

Last night I was drawn to it mostly to see if Community's "Dean Pelton" would win for screenplay adaptation. He did! (And immediately parodied Angelina Jolie's odd stance.)

Congrats on the interview on John Soares' blog.
As for my weekend, I spent most of it with my siblings, their families and a couple of our friends.
This week I'm getting ready to launch a children's book and reviewing a book manuscript for a client project.

Be sure, as with the utility sink, to consider your specific needs before picking the sink and faucet combination. Also ensure that the plumbing you require is both possible and practical.
