I Heart Singer Songwriters

Posted on October 21, 2010 by lwidmer

I love the Susan Boyles of the world – those people whose unassuming looks hide real talent. This guy is just like that.

Brett Dennen’s solo version of his song “She’s Mine.”

When we spent last year in Canada, I was blown away at the simply amazing music that you could hear on everyday radio. I could list a dozen new singer-songwriters and bands that ended up in our iPod, but my hands-down favorite was Great Big Sea. (They're from Newfoundland, land of the nicest, warmest, friendliest people my wife and I have met on any of our travels.) Anyway, if you're not familiar with GBS, they're a bit hard to define: traditional-ish folk songs and sea shanties to Celtic-influenced pop. Here's a vid of one of my favorite songs:
    Love Me Tonight

I'm listening obsessively to the song you posted a couple of days ago. It's on right now 🙂
