Many thanks to our own Copywriting Maven for sharing with me this hysterical video. If you’ve ever wondered if you’re doing the right thing in sticking by your price, wonder no more:

That is hilarious. Really points out the absurdity of what some people expect from writers. Thanks for sharing.

I agree, Krista. The absurdity is loud and clear in this one!

Thanks to the Copywriting Maven for sending it along!

puts the idea of feeling guilty or like we shouldn’t charge “so much” or enough or whatever into perspective doesn’t it.

And darn, it’s us writers… well not you and me Lori, but many writers who let this sort of nonsense continue.

I’ve learned the magic of saying ‘no’ …

Saying “No” with grace: I love it when the clerk at the video store flashes his dimples and says, “That one’s $19.99.”

Just a thought: This may be easier to do when you work for someone else, though the hairdresser certainly understands he’s being cheated.

    Thanks, Lori.

By the way, I finally started my essay blog and mention you in my second post. I don’t know what will come from the blog, but so far, I’m having fun!

How sad is it when you actually recognize some of the lines?

I particularly loved the video store one: “We can do this! This isn’t a challenge! Think of it as an opportunity.”

This ought to be required viewing for certain clients.

Anne, I agree. We put up with it (we as a group, not you and me). It’s exactly as you put it – we let the nonsense continue.

Katharine, amen. I think we should send this video to every potential client who uses one of these lines and can’t fathom why we don’t accept.

Thank you, Ana! I appreciate the honor!

Cheryl, congratulations! How’s it feel to bare your soul online? You get used to it. :))

Thanks, Lori, for sharing this wonderful vid with your readers. I showed it to my husband – he’s in IT – and it also speaks directly to his business, as well!

They had me at, “So you want me to work for free?” … “No, I just want to test it and see if my husband likes it.”

Can anyone say ‘Spec Assignment?” I know you can.

LOL! Maven, that was my turning point, too. 🙂

You’re filet mignon, right Amie? 🙂
