Friday Weirdness

Posted on August 6, 2010 by lwidmer

What’s on the iPod: Into the Mystic by Van Morrison

Why am I so glad Friday is here? It wasn’t a tough week by any means. I may be working today in an attempt to finish up a smaller project in order to get going on the massive one due in any moment. At any rate, I’m probably not going too far from the desk today. But I’m feeling like playing hoookie.

Stupidest thing I saw this week: A guy riding his bike in a 45-mph zone, against traffic – texting.

Nicest moment: Singing along with the Celtic band, two cosmos in, and missing Ireland (a country I’ve never seen) to the point of tears. Blame the cosmos to some degree.

Weirdest moment: The message left on my cell phone – in Hindi.

Latest guilty pleasure: True Blood. Hate the vampire craze, but that vampire Eric is just, well, scrumptious.

I’m happy for: the return of Project Runway.

I’m thrilled about: the vote in California.

I’m still laughing about: This ad on Craig’s List.

What about your week was noteworthy?

The positive was the signed contract for the new book.

The rest of the week sucked exponentially.

    That's a pretty big positive. πŸ™‚ Congrats!

I predict your next novel will plot the wicked demise of your landlords.

    Highlight of my week:

Getting a small recliner at a local auction (great condition) for $2.50. I was the only one bidding, thanks to a friend, β€œBrewsking”, who used his influencing talents to convince people to go for the other chairs. Sneaky bastard, but good.

    Stupid T-shirt slogan:

Just the other day, I saw a man wearing a shirt with this slogan:β€œIt's my Job to be Annoying.”
Apparently, it is, since the letters were HUGE. All of them.

It was a fast and unremarkable week for me. Got a lot of work done, rescued a baby gecko from my cats in the kitchen, discovered an error on my cable bill that netted me a nice fat credit. That was probably the highlight. πŸ™‚

The Ambition Fairy seems to have tapped me this week so I will probably hole up and work most of the weekend.

LOL at the Craigslist ad – I wonder what "sample of work" he is looking for.

The positive of the week is the completion of a series of 5 separate projects for one client. You know how it feels to complete ongoing projects and feel good about the results.

Don't burst my bubble about needing more work. I have a few things lined up right now, but do need to do some more marketing. But, life is good. πŸ™‚

P.S. I love Project Runway, too, but didn't know it was back. I just happened to have the TV turned to its channel-that was a little blessing, too. πŸ™‚

Wendy, I saw a t-shirt, printed upside down, that said, "If you can read this, put me back up on my bar stool." πŸ™‚

Valerie, my Ambition Fairy has been on vacation, too!

Not sure about this year's designers, Cathy, but I love the creativity on that show.

As for "samples" he'd get writing only! LOL

Love this list, Lori. I am watching Project Runway for the first time to see what all the chatter is about especially since some of the reality shows I like are about to end (Food Network Star and Hell's Kitchen).

I don't know if I can watch True Blood. Not big on vampires or gory shows.

Started a new project — tech editing a book. Got two weeks to do it (35 chapters, 400+ pages). Time to go do another chapter.
