What’s on the iPod: In the End (There’s Only Love) by Ewert and the Two Dragons
Sometimes accomplishing a lot doesn’t mean wearing yourself out. I had a weekend that started with a long list of things that had to be done. By Sunday, I was relaxing and not over-tired. That’s a good way to end it.
I had to tame the front walk again. The weeds in August seem to sprout instantly “seedy” and stretch out quickly to take over. The whole place looked like hours of work, but each patch of wildness seemed to be just one or two weeds.
I had plenty of errands Saturday, including finding an electrician and a kitchen design shop. We’re replacing 25-year-old appliances, and the stove I want is 36 inches. Can’t make that fit in the current space. Then there’s the range hood, which we don’t have now. That means moving a microwave and cabinets. Too much logistics for us to tackle on our own. Call in a pro. Also, we’ll need a 220V line for the dual-fuel oven (his only request in this process). Electrician is being called today.
And thank you, Angie’s List, for existing. We’d be lost without the ratings.
I visited the store (the stove) Saturday to get some of these contacts, but in the end I decided to go with people already rated. The contacts the store gave me were dicey — one had a pretty lousy rating and the other didn’t exist on AL.
The rest of Saturday was cleaning out my clothes closet and heading to Goodwill with four huge bags; grocery shopping; and sorting through papers I’ve been meaning to sort through. Husband bought a great top-feed scanner and he’s going completely paperless. This inspired me to dig out all my published clips and do the same. Not that I got to scanning anything, but I did get them out and sorted.
Apart from a disappointing (for my team) football game on Sunday, I had a wonderful time reading on the garden swing, cooking new recipes from my latest download (the chestnut and sage soup was incredible!), and savoring Breaking Bad while I still can. Husband had come back from a meditation retreat Saturday night, so he was still seeking quiet and calm. That rubbed off — I took my book to the swing.
Today is a bit of research on an article, and a good deal of writing on another large project. That project is nearing the end, and I’m happy to see the progress. I’m about 23 pages from completion, though I’ll more than likely go over the page count. I have the material, and I’d rather over-deliver.
The rest of the week, I hope, will go nicely, as well.
How was the weekend for you?
