Sometimes... You have a once or twice in a lifetime event... and deadlines have to take a back seat.

For me, it was a trip to a local water park for the weekend with my kiddos. We came back with some silly photos of kids with their faces framed by decorative toilet seats, and a picture of a bear who joined us for breakfast in camp.

Worth it? Abso-freakin'-lutely. <3

PS you may notice a change to my name... Last weekend, my deadlines were bulldozed under a wedding. Life is good.

Next eclipse? Plan to stay in town a day or two until the traffic lets up.

We were supposed to have a decent 88% totality, but we had thick clouds. The effect was more like having storm clouds and no rain. With extra loud cricket chirps all around. The clouds thinned a bit by the 45-minutes or so of the eclipse, so people with the glasses (not me) got a glimpse.

You were indeed lucky, Charlotte! It did happen fast, and I barely looked at the corona, having read zero about the eclipse before going. I didn't know that was the only time you could, so I stole glances. I tried taking photos, but that didn't work!

Funny how that feeling came over you and there are just no words to describe what it was like.

Love this. I was lucky enough to see the total eclipse here in Oregon, an hour or so south of my home. It was one of the most spectacular things I've ever seen. And I agree--it does something to your brain. It happened so fast and was so hard to process. Like you, I'm still feeling the effects of it. We lucked out and didn't hit a lot of traffic home (though there were hours-long back-ups here, too). So glad you got to see it, traffic and all!
