Paula, amazing how reclaiming your space can snowball in such a nice way. We're doing the same with every drawer and closet. I've been going through one closet or drawer every week for some time now, but this home reno stuff just ramped it all up. I'm over keeping stuff I'll never use.

1. The small room off my office (why do I have interview notes from articles so old I've forgotten I even wrote them?) – I call it the "library" but it's really a 7×7 archive space I'd like to reclaim.

2. The guest room. It's been invaded by my yarn stash. I sold off some yarn at a neighbor's garage sale, but need to find a better storage solution.

3. The basement. AKA home of long obsolete electronics, including two broken TVs that are too large for me to lift.

May and June were sluggish for me because I didn't land any assignments from Favorite Editor for the August issue. (The one they wanted to assign was killed because the network changed air dates. Grrr.) But things kick into high gear with this week's Emmy nominations. Two editors have asked me to be ready to take on some quick turnaround assignments.

Even though May and June were too slow for my taste (and most assignments were lower paying that I like), I only had maybe two days without paying work. I try to keep marketing every week, but I amp it up in slow periods.

Though this is not "finding clients" I often use slow times to work on personal projects. I have a series of tips books in the works that always need attention (and do earn me some money, just not much) and a couple of fiction projects that may eventually earn me a bit of cash.

It's also a good time to plan some blog posts and put new work into my portfolio.

Thanks for your list, and I hope the purposeful re-filling of your space continues to go well. There's nothing but clutter here!
