Queries & LOIs: I think I only sent one query, in reply to an editor's Tweet asking for suggestions. But I sent three LOIs and followed up to three more. One of those – a trade editor I've followed up with a couple times per year for the past few years – landed my first assignment for them. Proof that persistence pays off.

Job Listings: I replied to four. Big surprise…no responses from any of them.

Existing Clients: Turned in two articles to Favorite Editor, a second batch of executive profiles to another editor, and three columns. Yesterday Favorite Editor called to assign me a huge feature story that will require a day trip to Chicago – finally a perk from living in the Midwest!

New Clients: Wrote two Wikipedia entries for an independent film production company. Yesterday I turned in the assignment I landed by following up on my LOIs.

Earnings: I took in way more than double my monthly goal. Of course, a lot of that came from payments I was hoping for last month.

Bottom Line: The coffers are slowly refilling, I have a couple nice invoices out and am working on plenty more. Best month in a long time!
