Great point about doing what you love. It's so freeing to say no to something that you know you'll not like.

I create jobs I want, as well as going after jobs the clients create. I seem to be creating a new niche for myself — as much as I hate niches — mission-specific entertainment. I love doing it, and I'm good at it, so what the hey, right?

Now i just have to figure out how to market it! 😉

I have learned many of the same lesson as you have, Lori (thankfully!) Another one I would add is you decide the kind of work you want to do.

In the beginning, my feeling of desperation had me doing work I did not enjoy. I finally woke up to the thought, hey, what's the point of freelancing if you don't take control of the kind of work you do?

I dumped what I hated and have never looked back - even when things got challenging.
