Thanks, Cathy. Good try. I checked it out, heading to the online Mac App Store. The minimum requirement for the Twitter App is OS 10.6. Mine is 10.3.9. Huge difference.

I just learned my sister's next door neighbor is a Mac Genius. Maybe he can alert me to any specials they might have on Mac Minis. Too bad my brother-in-law's or cousins' educator discounts don't extend to me.

Unless I come into a sudden windfall, I'll have to settle for being woefully behind the technology curve.

Cathy, I try to limit it to one hour a day, but I break that into chunks, 10 to 15 minutes at a time. However, I don't count blog reading into that. If I'm learning something then I believe it is valuable.

Cathy – I wasted half my morning trying to find the minimum systems requirements for TweetDeck, HootSuite, etc… most say "OS X" as if that narrows it down. One other requirement for Tweetdeck was some Adobe Air thingy with a minimum requirement of OS 10.5, an OS Apple has twice told me won't run on my Mac – something to do with its processors.

Without a smart phone, iPad, iPod or any other gadget that one might Tweet with, I guess that means I won't be spending much time with Twitter in the foreseeable future. More time for work.

Paula-so funny you should mention the new Twitter. I was one of those who held out until the end. I mostly use Hootsuite, but I was contemplating a post for new Twitter procrastinators.

I figured I go find out about it. I just wondered if anyone would read it. LOL! :-)

Speaking of social media (loved how you used Scarecrow as an analogy, Cathy) and Twitter....Cathy, I wish one of your tips was New Twitter for Luddites.

They forcibly switched me to New Twitter on Sunday. On a positive note, this time the page wasn't blank like when I first signed up on Twitter and realized I needed Old Twitter.

Problem 1) While I can read the most recent 20 Tweets, it won't let me go back to read older ones, so to keep up I'd have to refresh the page about 5 times per hour.

Problem 2) While I can type in Tweets much faster in New Twitter than in Old (which took about 3 seconds for each letter to come up on screen), when I click "send" nothing happens. I mean nothing.

Problem 3) It won't even let me retweet. The message comes up asking if I want to retweet, yes/cancel. When I click "yes" nothing happens, but when I click "cancel" it will cancel.

I just clicked the "tweet" button on Lori's post and Cathy's Twitter post, so it will be interesting to see if those come up.

The Twitter guys suggested upgrading my browser to (at minimum) a browser that requires a higher OS than my old Mac can handle. Until I get a new computer or a smart phone (neither are in the cards right now) I guess I'll be Twitter Silent. (Just when I was getting the hang of it, too!)

Any other tips I might try?
