If she gives you grief, say "Look, I'm asking nicely and do not want to involve the authorities. I appreciate that you have animals, but I have a right to be able to sleep at night."

Maybe the threat of a cop knocking on her door will cure it.

Take, for example, my neighbor, who leaves her two big dogs outside all night. They bark constantly. We've told her they keep us up at night, and she basically said, sucks for you. Seriously!?! I just don't understand that attitude, and I see it more and more from people today.

He even squeezed in a minor repair that I discovered needed doing the day before he was here.

That's good customer service.

Paula, not a fan of the hidden fee, either. Try renting a car! My "estimated grand total" doubled the minute I showed up to rent it. They're all like that. The fees are ridiculous.

They want customers and subscribers to think they're getting a great deal when they're probably paying more than the guy down the street.

The worst offenders are cable and satellite providers, phone companies, cell phone providers, and internet providers. It's only getting worse with the intermingling of those services.

I also hate hidden fees. My cable company stated a price for my new cable plan, noting taxes and fees would be extra. They slapped on an "HD technology fee" of $8.95 a month, and I don't have HD! They said it's because the DVR they installed is an HD DVR. Why? Because they no longer have non-HD DVRs. Slick ploy to upcharge people for services we can't use? Or bait-and-switch?

See, that one combines customer service and sneaky pricing.
