I prefer working with cotton, bamboo or even soy-blend yarns when it's hot. Just making smaller items helps, too. I won't be sitting there with lap full of wool or (worse) acrylic in hot weather if I can help it. Of course, last summer I made a felted tote bag which had one massive piece of wool, but it was for the blog, so I pushed through.

Before the blog I usually set my needles and hooks aside in the summer...after all, quilting is nice when the sewing machine is set up in front of the AC.

Paula, I think the aliteration is perfect. :) And yes, perhaps it's time. Second week of May every year - you heard it here first, and you heard it from Paula first. :)

LC, welcome to the world of Schedule C and 1099 hell. :) If you start with Schedule C, it makes it all go much faster. Thanks also for the offer to assist with the word-spreading!

Kim, I'd be honored to be on your "modest" blog (which is nonsense - your blog is a wealth of into and people are crazy if they're not following you). Thank you for the offer!

Paula, just wondering - when summer comes, do you switch to cotton knitting, or do you tough it out with wool?

With so many guest blogs, perhaps it's time to officially expand it to Writers' Worth Week. As I probably said last year - that sounds good if only for the alliteration.

Saturday I meant to dust and vacuum, but somehow got diverted to cleaning out my office. Not that anyone would notice, but the piano is no longer piled with back issues, books, and a stack of outdated coupons and catalogs. The piles on the desk are a little neater. And the dust bunnies have vacated the premises.

Sunday I walked the dog, blocked some yarny things, had an impromptu visitor, planted some lettuce, spinach, and snow peas. (We had accumulating snow overnight, which has already melted.) Somehow I never got around to the vacuuming portion of the weekend.

Workload is slow. I have a column to write, some interviews to line up, and some queries to write.

I'm glad your weekend was productive, despite the crummy weather. I shudder to think about doing taxes next year after living in W-2 World for so long, though it's a small price to pay compared to the freedom of this lifestyle :)

Thanks for the reminder about Writers Worth Day; I needed that as well. I'll definitely help spread the word. It's a subject you can't talk about enough, IMHO.
