Lori: Congrats on your daughter's many accomplishments (and extra kudos for planning a train trip to get to graduation -- for my money, the absolute best way to trvel :-)

Nothing overly exciting to share with the group work-wise, but wanted to be sure I dropped a congratulatory note here before you hit the rails. Hope your weekend is a wonderful one!

What a wonderful Christmas gift - college graduation. Congratulations to the new grad and the mom that helped lead her to the road she's on.

I have a little bit of editing to do, some forms that need to be scanned in and faxed to a new client before I can begin working for them, and a small stack of Happy New Year cards to get addressed and sent to my editors. After that, I have to put up Lilyville - my ever-growing Christmas village. (Don't blame me - it's become an easy gift idea for relatives when they can't think of anything else. I've told everyone: No more buildings, unless it's a stone church with stained glass windows.) I've already had to divide it to Lilyville proper (in the living room) and rural Lilyville (in the dining room).

I'm done work-wise for this week. I need to run to the store for something and I'm thinking about picking up a couple of things for the Toys for Tots drive they have going on locally.

I'm taking tomorrow off for myself. I don't know what I'll do yet, but I'll figure it out as I go.

Lori, that stinks about the digital recorder. I'm sure I'm going to jinx myself by even bringing this up, but I've never had a problem with my Olympus. It's an old warhorse DS-2, running DSS Player 6.2.1. Your experience is exactly why I dread the inevitable need to buy a newer one.

On the plate today, transcribing a long interview and working up Round 2 of a website for someone.

In the reading queue, The Fourth Turning, which I'm really looking forward to, albeit with a touch of existential dread...

I have a ghostwritten article to do, some blogging and working on my business plan. Also, waiting to hear back from a client on timing for another ghostwritten article.

I have just a few little "odds and ends" for Christmas shopping. The big stuff is done. One good thing to be said for the slower work time is I got a ton of personal stuff done. My office is so clean, it's scary. :-)
