So, Lori, will you be updating your photo here with one showing off the new 'do?

My hair is too long. I usually try to get it cut once or twice a year. For various reasons, I didn't get to it this summer, and when I was ready, I learned the place I go to had closed abruptly the week before. I decided to let it grow a little more so I can donate it again (I've heard negative things about Locks for Love, so I donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths instead). Now, I'm asking friends who cuts their hair. One, because her hair is so frumpy I won't go to her stylist. Another, who has a lifelong record of dreadful cuts was here last week and her hair was great - sleek, fun, and a little funky, without being too weird or high-maintenance. Best of all? The place she went has $25 cuts. (Well, they call it hair "sculpting" - what do they use, a chisel?)

I often have my hair pulled up to get it out of the way, but I was rocking a headband yesterday. I had a package to hand my letter carrier, and she said, "I am so jealous of your long thick hair." I had to laugh because my hair is not thick at all - it was just dirty. But apparently, as sick as I am of my own hair, it's not that bad.

As a kid we were told it was bad luck to touch anything black on Friday the 13th. Me? I often wear at least a little black.

As for social media, I've re-connected with long lost editors at LinkeIn. I've also found sources and article ideas (thanks to status updates), and looked up editors I wanted to pitch ideas to. But so far no assignments from any new places. But I've been there less than a year.

I'm still ambivalent about Twitter. It seems like a giant time suck. And that's what I have Ravelry for. (That's a social networking site for knitters, crocheters, and various yarn fiends.)

Didn't even realize it is Fri. 13th and don't care. Too busy with Twitter, for which I hold you entirely responsible. Remember, I made you jump in first and tell me the temperature before I would try it?

Well, yes I use it for marketing--when I can quit chatting, visiting, passing along RTs long enough to think up a good short message.

GLHancock @ Twitter.com

P.S. I have not really stopped following you -- just moved you to a private account for reading only.
Did you notice? Do you care?

Friday the 13th is just another day to me. I’m not superstitious, nor do I believe in universal influences in our lives. But, I do respect others who are into them, because they have so much passion in their beliefs that they just exude confidence. I can’t fault anyone for that; except when their beliefs cause harm. (like Jonestown, for instance)

I haven’t done much in the way of social marketing. I like how Devon said, “It’s just me.” That’s the whole point of socializing is selling who you are as a person. My problem is that I’m twitter-illiterate and can’t seem to figure out the social sites like Facebook and Myspace.

As for what’s on my mind, well, you’ll have to read my blog post’s entry for today. Something has been invading my thoughts lately. If I don’t scratch the itch soon, I may just go crazy.

Your planets are aligned properly, Devon. :)

I've always had fun with Friday the 13th. I've had numerous black cats over the years, so I know it's bogus that they bring bad luck to anyone. Well, Hal brought much bad luck to himself, but he lived through some serious scrapes. Not such bad luck after all!

Great news on that book! I love when the universe delivers what we need by accident. :)

I'm using social networking a little more for work than I thought I would, and so far, the return on that investment has been nice.
