I’m glad you stopped by. Your site didn’t read as though you were trying to make profits. My skepticism was entrenched in me long ago.

Is there any other payment processing structure you could use besides PayPal? It seems to me that 20% is just nuts, in my opinion.

I’m Clare from Bookhabit.com
and I’d just like to clarify that we are not aiming to make huge profits at the expense of authors.

Paypal takes approx 20% per transaction as we are New Zealand based, and Bookhabit gets the remaining approx 40% to cover marketing, site development and maintenance, taxes etc.

I’m picking if bookhabit takes off you’d make a lot more money on a site for writers and as long as they get readers there it should work. The $5000 competition they are running might mean they get a lot of people looking and it just may be worth entering. How many readers would payloadz get? The bookhabit model looks good. I’m going to watch bookhabit with interest.
