I wish I had known about blogs when I started out doing this for money. As mentioned in my old (now defunct) blog, I had to quit my job due to illness. I didn’t have three or six months or a year to do research, put together a business plan, etc. I am guilty of doing articles for peanuts, but I quickly learned that I was doing myself and others a disservice. I no longer work with any of my early clients and I have changed the way I run my business and now charge much better rates.

I once had another writer write me an e-mail telling me I was ruining the writing profession because I had posted my rates on my site. Funny thing is, I had just RAISED my rates by a lot and I know they were more than many other people were charging. This woman told me she makes $4,500 per e-book she writes; I wrote back and told her I’d charge $4,500 if I could find someone to pay that much!
